Holy Monastery Diskouriou

The Holy Monastery Dioskouri is an Orthodox monastery of a fortress character, dedicated to Saint George. According to tradition, the monastery was built over an ancient temple dedicated to the Dioscours, while the first written reference to its history comes from a notary document of 1628. During the Turkish occupation, the Monastery suffered many disasters due to the revolutionary action of its monks, during the great revolutions of 1821 and 1866.
